Eco Guardians
Hack The Future 2023
What we did
Together with Nikita, I participated in the 2023 edition of the Hack The Future event. Our briefing was to create virtual creatures which would protect the ecosystem. We were also asked to work out a business model on how they would make money to invest in better wild life care and preservation.
We made five Eco Guardians: mutated animals which combine best features of two animals into one. How do you like our Lupolizard, a wolf combined with a lizard, which will protect the trees? Or the Pantheraphasaurus, a panther combined with a parrot, which will give warning signals to its fellow jungle inhabitants?
To make money with these, we would sell them as CGI models to the film and streaming industry. Recent series Apple Watch’s ‘Prehistoric Planet’ demonstrates that the audience has a keen interest in CGI models that extend beyond traditional themes such as animals, aliens, and horror creatures.

We would distrubute Pokemon-like-cards to the viewers of these streaming services, for example, through promotional campaigns at supermarkets. As the popularity of a particular Eco Guardian card grows, streaming services are likely to express interest in acquiring our CGI model. This would grant them exclusive rights to feature the creature in a movie, series, or integrate it into an existing project. The entirety of the profits generated from our CGI sales will be dedicated to wildlife care and preservation.
We received the briefing at 9 AM, and by 4 PM, we were tasked with presenting our projects. To our delight, we were not only nominated but also chosen to receive the Audience’ Favorite Award. 🏆 ︎
